A Minnesota Romance
City guy, country gal--sounds a bit cliched? Not when you add in Mortimer, the moose.
Sex in the City, it's not!
Log scaler Karena Carlson lives off the grid in the Minnesota back woods with her son, Danny, and his mischievous pet moose calf, Mortimer.
Logan Baxter spots her winning the log rolling competition at the timber show and is instantly smitten. Logan is single, social and fond of electricity, indoor plumbing and gas heat.
Karena dislikes cities, crowds, and strangers. Her mantra is, chop wood, carry water.
Can she afford to let Logan into her heart--and her life?
Can a stubborn 12 year old boy and a capricious moose calf addicted to exhaust fumes help love find a way?
Danny adores Mortimer, but to call the moose calf a mischief would be the understatement of the century. And Mortimer is growing--which for a moose, means huge. And when moose hormones kick in, it could also mean danger. Moose have been known to attack trains when the love bug bites.
What's Karena to do? She loves her son, she loves his moose, she loves her way of life. But none of them will easily transport to the city, if she falls in love with Logan.
LOVE, LAUGHTER AND A FEW TEARS ARE WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN FOLLOW A WILD HEART.
Interview with Bobby
Moose and Romance? How did you come up with that combination?
I have a friend--there's nothing like having a friend when you're a writer. Anyway, she used to be a log scaler in B.C.s backwoods. And one summer the loggers found a newborn moose and gave it to her for a pet. That story didn't have a happy ending, so I dreamed one up.
Favorite character--Mortimer, of course. How can you not love a capricious, gas sniffing, voracious young moose?? I hope you fall for him like I have.

I love all of Bobby Hutchinson's stories. The characters aren't what I typically find in romance novels. Karena, the female lead, is a log roller, works as a log scaler, lives a semi- hermit lifestyle. The male lead is a college professor, lives in town, and has many friends. Karena's son is a happy, talkative preteen, but would love more social interaction. A very important character, with a boundless personality, is Mort, a bull moose baby. He is, unfortunately, separated from his mother, at the moment of his birth. The lumberjacks who work with Karena brought him to her cabin, hoping she'd raise him, which she did undertake this joyful, and daunting task. There are family and friends of the above mentioned, to whom the reader is introduced. Every character in this story is going to go through major life changes to become, and receive, what they need and want in life. "Little" Mort, and his life struggles and changes, is symbolism for all the rest of the struggles seen in this story. His is the wild heart named, but not the only one we follow, in this book. It was funny and heartbreaking, and every emotion in between. Well done!

Follow a Wild Heart edition by Bobby Hutchinson Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

This was a unique story of unique circumstances, and the story unfolded with humour, romance, uncertainty, and a wonderful lesson on how to raise a child to be happy with his or her circumstances whatever they are. Some wonderful examples of life lessons told with humour and sensitivity . I felt like I had moved right into that cabin in the woods, and I certainly fell in love with the characters. A good book to read on a quiet evening in front of the fire.
I really liked this book! I honestly love the idea of living off the grid as the main character did! I really wish it had discussed that in even more detail. ***SPOILER ALERT!*** I was disappointed to see that she had to give up her lifestyle at the end of the book-It is what made her such an interesting character! I still enjoyed the book and will certainly look for more by this author.
Cute charming story.

Lady lives in the woods on a lake (no electricity, no running water, etc etc) with her 12 year old son. Meets a college professor from the city who likes indoor bathrooms.

I'll admit I originally downloaded it because she has a rescued baby moose, LOL. Instant comedy with "Mortimer".

Note - one of the reviews complained about sexual content. There's 3 or 4 instances, short paragraphs, not graphic at all. Mostly "fade to black" type.
Bobby Hutchinson is a talented writer and author. I have read her books for years. This book about wilderness living, life's hardships, survival and finding love is a wonderful novel and well worth the read.
A really cute story about what happens when a woman from the wilderness falls in love with a man from the city. Karena is busy working in the logging industry, raising her son and even funnier trying to raise a baby moose named Mort. Unexpectantly she finds a chance for romance but can she hold on to him when her father has pushed other incredible men away not to mention its hard to find time for romance when there is a little boy in the other room and a moose who likes to watch. Can she find a way to make their different lifestyles work out and hold on to the most incredible thing to happen to her for awhile? This amusing and fun book is worth it for the moose's antics alone as Mort gets into some funny situations.
This was a fun, sweet romance. The characters were very real and interesting. The beginning and ending tied in beautifully. It was a satisfying read and wasn't so syrupy sweet as to make one gag. There were a few glitches that were distracting like ordering a tv for the hospital room or referring to a Buick Skylark like it was an expensive sports car. Warlord was spelled wrong. Research, edit and research some more. It was still a wonderful, fun romance and I would recommend it.
This book contains sexual content. I wish that had been evident when I started out. I read reviews but none that mentioned it. Since it was not a compelling story for me I stopped reading halfway through after skimming past the intimate scene. I wanted to see where the story led and if it would pick up the pace. This story pleasantly was not full of course language, the description and conversations were handled nicely but, the subject matter just didn't hold my interest. I found it boring and mundane. The editing was excellent however.
